Every month or so I get asked by a member of the media to detail the actual number of air rage cases committed each year. In the U.S., the only reference is the "Interference with Flight Crew" statistic maintained by the FAA. This indicator is specious, however, as the definition and reporting standards of air rage incidents varies widely, among other reasons.

Recent, two studies, one in the UK and another in Australia, paint a much clearer picture as to the frequency of incidents involving flights from those respective countries.

Using these studies as guideposts, we can discern the actual number of cases worldwide to be over 10,000 annually.
