The death of Bin Laden might seem to be "the beginning of the beginning of the end" when it comes to international terrorism.

We would be wise to remember that the first bombing of a commercial airliner occurred in 1933; and, the first concerted terrorist attack against civil aviation took place in 1968.

Al-Qaeda wasn't formed by Abdullah Azzam until the late 1980's.

An unfortunate reality of our time is that airliners and airports will be the prime targets for groups looking to make global statements, and inflict mass death and destruction.

Whether it is Al-Qaeda or someone else, the air transport system will remain the front-line of the battle against extremist groups of any kind.
